Rectangular Tubing ASTM A500 – Grades B and C

ASTM A500 rectangular tubing is a cold-formed carbon steel structural tube with a rectangular section. It is available welded or seamless and complies with ASTM A500 in Grades B and C.

  • Material: cold-formed carbon steel.
  • Section: rectangular.
  • Standard lengths: 6 and 12 m (20' and 40').
  • Typical thicknesses: 1.65 to 12.7 mm.
  • Weldable and suitable for machining.
  • High dimensional uniformity and flatness.
  • High structural strength.
  • Easy welding and machining.
  • Versatile for structural uses.
  • Dimensional precision per ASTM A500.
  • Civil construction: columns, frames, and beams.
  • Machinery: chassis and supports.
  • Infrastructure: handrails, signage, bridges.

Dimensional tolerances and manufacturing per ASTM A500-23.

  • ASTM A500 Grade B: similar to A36 in minimum tensile strength.
  • ASTM A500 Grade C: higher strength, comparable to high-strength steels.

ASTM A500 Grade B/C rectangular tubing is a reliable and versatile profile. Grade B is recommended for general applications, while Grade C is used when higher mechanical demand is required.
